If you are a dude, or have ever posed as supporting the Dudes Rock movement, and have not seen this movie, or don't recognize it as an unimpeachable classic, you are no daisy at all. This movie is peak masculinity, you may not like it, but it is a fact.
A movie about how much fun it would have been to live in the Old West. Just think about it, fucking around with guns all day, smoking opium, buying laudanum over the counter, drinking 200 proof whiskey, gambling, whoring, having tuberculosis. It's even more awesome than how it sounds.
Come for the simple, violent, unreconstructed western goodness, stay for the absolutely stacked cast, toplined by...that's right, you guessed it...Frank Stallone!
It would be dishonest to claim this film as a radical text; almost certainly no one involved is an anti-cop socialist, certainly not the main players. Still, the depiction of law and order against organized crime blurs the line between the two to the point that the badge is no better than the red sash, to the point that every act of violence is a murder, even if it has the law behind it.
We see the Earps fighting for family and friends, but the Cowboys do the same. We see the Earps resorting to trickery (the gun in the opium den is such a nasty little moment) and celebrating vicious brutality. Yes, the Cowboys are shown to commit sins…

26. Frank Stallone: solid performance as a name in the credits that you recognize.
25. John Corbett: solid performance as a face and voice you recognize.
24. Thomas Arana: unobtrusive but noticeable.
23. Paula Malcolmson / Lisa Collins: they do good work but they're given almost nothing to work with.
22. Terry O'Quinn: great actor in a nothing role.
21. Jason Priestley: he isn't bad or forgettable, he just doesn't measure up to those around him or the role he's playing.
20. Pat Brady: the way he scoffs "yeah right" when Wyatt introduces himself is Oscar-worthy.

Watched TOMBSTONE for the first time and was treated to an all-timer Val Kilmer performance, never been a big fan of his but he totally owns the movie. Such a great western and highly entertaining retelling of the exploits of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday.
Val Kilmer's performance in this is so good it turns you into him for a few days. that's the power of a truly iconic performance--personality downloaded straight into your brain. this is my united states of whatever
Between Val Kilmer walking around like a rotting corpse and Michael Biehn shouting "I want your blood, I want your soul", I could have easily watched this as a Halloween pick yesterday.
A great modern western directed by Panos Cosmatos' dad.
I think it's pretty wild to think the man also directed such gems as Rambo: First Blood pt. Deux, Cobra and Leviathan.
I did the math and this movie is 93,62% moustache.
Cowboys in town bring the hustle,
So they're forced to call in Kurt Russell.
Though not impartial,
