It doesn't seem like a plot or concept that could possibly work. A woman pretends to be the fiance of a man in a coma, and she gets trapped in her web of lies accidentally. She falls in love with his brother. Hijinks ensue. This should be unspeakably offensive and tiring, but somehow, this film manages to squeeze charm out of it anyway. And part of what makes it work is that Lucy doesn't spend the film pining for a comatose man, nor does she seem to be overwhelmed and foolish for his brother. Instead, happenstance (which is a little overused, but whatever) and a more compelling motivation bring her to her deception: she's lonely for family.
