DAILY HORROR HUNT 3 (September 2018): boxd.it/1YcFg
DAY FIVE: "September 5, 1951 Michael Keaton was born. We are watching a HORROR movie that he was in and it CANNOT be directed Tim Burton."
After a man's wife dies she starts to talk to him through white noise and intense boredom ensues. Michael Keaton came really close to convincing me this is good, but nope. Why the hell didn't Michael Keaton do other horror films? The ending to White Noise is somehow obnoxious and mundane at the same time.

My List: boxd.it/1YonS
OK, I figure this will make some people want to revoke my Horror Fan Card but I just don't care about movies that feature EVP (I'm sure there's a couple of them I like but I can't think of any). Spending a good chunk of a movie watching someone sit and listen to squawks on their radio is not my idea of a good time. I can never quite make out what the voices are saying so I always have to take the…

“Of the many thousands of documented EVP messages, approximately 1 in 12 have been overtly threatening in nature”
I did not expect to gel so well with this movie. I went in expecting your average cringy mid-2000’s horror movie and, while it certainly has its moments, left with a surprisingly atmospheric and creative movie.
Let’s get this out of the way, Micheal Keaton is a phenomenal actor. He never seems to sleepwalk through a role and this is no different. He’s great as a depressed man who’s…

Michael Keaton staring at his television waiting for something to happen is very representative of the experience one has when watching this movie.
I remember the trailer for this had me SHOOK, but it turned out to be one of the worst studio horrors made in this millennium.

I watched this once, when it came out, and then forgot it existed. Forgot until this challenge forced me to re-watch it. And now I remember why I forgot.
It's bad. That's why.
It starts off ok, as a story about loss and coping with grief. Trying to find comfort by any means, maybe to the point of obsession.
I understand this all too well. My wife passed away 4 years ago. The anniversary of her death is this month. She was only 35 when she…
This film isn't particularly good.
It is filled with clichés and follows just about every genre trope imaginable.
Yet it freaks me out something fierce.
I have a weird mind.

I hope everyone enjoyed their rewatch of this! I sure didn’t! The scariest thing about this movie is the trailer.
It's the kind of PG 13 milquetoast horror flick that I usually hate, but Keaton's performance makes this come together in a way it certainly would not with a lesser actor. Not really scary, more just kind of creepy this movie deals with the loss of Keaton's wife and his attempts to contact her through EVP (electronic voice phenomena) which at first reassure him and later take him down a dark path.
Keaton deserves full credit here because he spends so much of this movie alone, listening to tapes and watching static. It all sounds dreadfully boring but Keaton plays out the story in his face, I appreciated that we were not bogged down with lengthy conversations or relationship stuff.…
HORRORx52 (2019)
38. A colour in the title
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Local man learns video editing so that he can fight crime with his undead wife. It is as stupid as it sounds but not nearly as fun.
As soon as this film starts being a horror film it goes off the rails in violent fashion. What starts out as a decently gripping story about a man trying to make contact with his dead wife soon turns into a guy who can see disasters before they happen and also goes up against ghost criminals that kill people because.... something I guess. It fails to say anything meaningful or being exciting. I guess the message here is to not contact your dead relatives…

Man, this movie put a lot of work in for today! Too bad it wasn't half way decent. Even Michael Keaton couldn't save it. There's really not much to say about this movie. It's one that I won't be revisiting anytime soon, which is okay with me.
Michael Keaton and Deborah Kara Unger star in this movie about EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon).
Jonathan (Keaton) is obsessed by getting in touch with his recently deceased wife and seeks help from an EVP specialist. According to this theory, ghosts communicate through recording noises or can even show up on TV when the channels are down. Remember Poltergeist ?
Jonathan ends up meeting Sarah (Unger) who also lost a loved one and is looking towards EVP.
White Noise has some genuine scary bits and the plot goes well til near the end, which I didn't like. By the end it looks like a mix of Poltergeist with Stiir of Echoes.
It had been a solid 15 years since I've seen this & I didn't really remember that much about it other than I love Michael Keaton & it was filmed in Vancouver...
There are some genuinely creepy moments throughout.
When my friends & I were teenagers, if you left your TV on the fuzzy PPV channels long enough the video would slowly get better & less grainy. So of course we would leave it on hoping that the PPV porn would end up showing through. There was definitely a lot of really weird stuff that happened while watching those static channels.
I'm pretty shocked they haven't made some form of updated remake of this. The material is interesting & unique enough to maybe warrant one with better graphics & tech.
Still not overly fond of the ending.
I love the concept and the actors, the plot is terrible and THE ENDING MAKES ME RAGE WITH THE POWER OF A THOUSAND SUNS

Now this film was good, akways happy when my local cinema (well my towns shut in the mid 90's but the next town does) shows horror/supernatural movies, Jonathan Rivers (Michael Keaton) wife has died and a paranormal ecpert says he can hear his dead wife on EVP.
A good solid film with some tense scenes that keeps you glued to tge screen to find out more, really well acted and directed by Geoffrey Sax.
Something about how this can attempt to make a turn of the head to see nothing into a jump scare that makes it so quaint. Such a fun time capsule in a weird way.
