YOU HURT MY FEELINGS is a well-written light comedy about the little & big lies we tell our loved ones thinking we’re being supportive instead of being honest. The comedic timing from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tobias Menzies & the rest of the cast is flawless. A hilarious date movie that may or may not start fights.
Well this just healed a little piece of me. I appreciate that Nicole Holofcener is illuminating the little hurts we may feel in everyday life. This story is genuinely helpful for reflecting on our expectations when we ask loved ones for feedback, and inversely, the role we have to nurture feelings versus deliver criticism. Every performance is pitch perfect and the humor was cathartic. A gem.
Even though I hate this sentiment out of Sundance, we are all guilty of it. Sigh.

Cute and self aware. I'm 40. And I am starting to see my life in Nicole Holofcener movies. (I also can’t copy and paste seance emojis properly.)
During a couples therapy scene I saw a man put his head in his hands and his (likely) wife next to him put her arm around him. And I felt that.
You Hurt My Feelings is another Nicole Holofcener knockout. A witty look at the “little” white lies we tell those we love, and why. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is at the height of her powers here, landing every line with a biting blow, but the entire ensemble excels (Michaela Watkins is a wonder).
Sundance 2023: #13
We all fuck each other up so much. The white lies we tell to support each other, and the pain when that truth comes out. And yet, we mean well when we lie and we mean well when we tell the truth. There’s never a right answer because shit is complicated!
So refreshing to watch a movie about real people and their messiness. There’s a scene with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michaela Watkins and Jeannie Berlin that’s the funniest shit I’ve seen in a while. Holofcener is back, baby! Loved this.
SUNDANCE 2023
Alguien vio la escena de Whiplash donde Fletcher dice “the worst words in English language are ‘good work’” y decidió hacer una comedia romántica sobre eso.
¿Y saben qué? BRAVO.
So wise, so true, so funny and so silly and I am so glad that my boyfriend was late coming home when I watched this :-)
#YouHurtMyFeelings is the tried & true date movie to laugh, relate, & maybe even argue from but in the end of the day Nicole Holofcener direction/writing brings it all together in a real way to hopefully help couples struggling with being supportive & truthful towards loved ones
Such a lovely, funny, well-observed marital dramedy about navigating issues in a loving relationship and the little white lies we tell. Really adored the awkward but never uncomfortable tone Holofcener strikes throughout (it’s cozy Force Majeure). Full of small hilarious moments with a range of relatable, truthful characters. Might be my favorite of the fest.
