It plays more fast and loose with its own rules than I remember, but it's so well put together and each set piece just works, so I didn't mind.
Freddy is more of a dark threat looming over the characters than an established personality too. Interesting how he became a sort of alternate to Chucky in the wise-cracking horror icon department. Why didn't Freddy vs Chucky become a thing instead of Freddy vs Jason?
