Cityploitation

“You’re not safe anymore...”

“Cityploitation” is a genre popularized in the 80s, where fears of the urban setting were exploited, and heightened audience paranoia regarding the dangers of the city, as permeated by the news media at the time.

This genre does not include future/speculative urban settings, which would fall under the “Futurecityploitation” genre.

This genre does include the exploitation of economic and racially based biases informing both the character and audience view of the urban setting.

“An evening on the town...A heavy gridlock...One *very* wrong turn.”
