    With a filmography as critically acclaimed and revered as Villeneuve’s, Blade Runner 2049 is a marked continuation of that trend. Although the pacing fell flat in some places, the film excelled through its beautful take on themes such as what it means to be human, egoism, corporate monopolies and the importance of family in a world without heart and soul. Praise should also be reserved for cinematographer Roger Deakins, who used a powerful combination of techniques to produce a visual spectacle filled with vibrant yet tasteful colour choices which will be studied and mulled over by industry experts for years to come.
