the issues I had on first viewing were that of a reactionary fan whose ridiculous expectations were not met. they have almost completely disintegrated on second watch, as I now take the film for what I see it as, which would be Rian Johnson’s brilliant vision for this chapter of the saga that puts storytelling, themes, and character before whatever theory I wanted to be true. he’s able to take something that he holds so dear, and look at it with nothing more than the eye of a storyteller, and in that has come one of the best entries in the series and films of the year.
