    Don't Breathe 2

    ★★

Fede Alvarez set the bar extremely high with Don’t Breathe. He was set to return as the director for Don’t Breathe 2 but something changed and he handed over the job to a new director, Rodo Sayagues who sadly wasn't able to even grasp onto that very high bar that Avarez set in the original.

Peter Luque returned to do the cinematography so the same dark look is carried over to Don’t Breathe 2 and the cast of returning members…

    ★★★

Its a James Wan movie alright.

Released at the perfect time of the year. September, a great month to pregame for Fall and the Halloween season. Malignant is so entertainingly bad its somehow horrifically fun. Its amazing this movie actually got made by a giant studio. So safely gather some friends anytime between now and October 31st, the perfect timeframe to do so, and have a riffing good time with this movie, you won't regret it.

I have watched movies my entire life, watching and rewatching the same VHS tapes and DVD’s until they were worn out or could be reenacted to perfection because we usually had no cable. But the way this film made me feel…

I’d like to think this is in the same universe as Nightcrawler. It would make me like this movie a whole lot more.

What a strange loose tone this one has.

My other issue with Velvet Buzzsaw is the non-diegetic soundtrack played throughout what seems like the entire movie. It just ruined the film’s tone for me. It felt so low budget like it belonged on a mid day direct to cable movie. The harpsy string filled music fits well…
