It's the musicality of the language I love so much, especially when played by this ensemble, & damn, if I'm not a sucker for Bogie at his most hard-assed & cynical.
I love how in THE HEARTBREAK KID, a man's biggest nightmare is that his new bride orders double egg salad sandwiches (which I mean, is a lot of egg salad) & gets sunburned on their honeymoon but in all of these "help, my new husband's nuts" movies, they're faced with dangerous schemers or murderers!
Anyway, I like this subgenre but UNDERCURRENT is weak. Hepburn's character acts like a naive fool, Mitchum is described as "not handsome" & drops in at a crucial moment to deliver wooden exposition, & it just never quite hangs together, despite a riveting, eerie turn from Taylor.
