Doc was too interested in the “what” and not enough in the “why.” I would have liked to see more from Dan Ariely and the behavioral science behind why people in Silicon Valley are compelled to lie, cheat, and cover-up to get ahead.
I’m both disappointed and relieved that I didn’t see this on the big screen. An appropriate subtitle would be “Enjoy Your Sweaty Palms.”
I also appreciated that the filmmakers didn’t comment on Alex’s personal life and just let us observe. His fractious relationship with his girlfriend for instance - it was left up to the viewer to decide if he’s just a selfish person or purposely keeping her at a distance to avoid letting his care for her affect his mindset during the climb.
