Zachary Marsh’s review published on Letterboxd:
What begins as a Robocop/Terminator hybrid action thriller delves into much darker and more sinister territory once the second half kicks in. The red-band trailer shows too much of the best action pieces, but the real treat is where the film goes in its latter half. Logan Marshall-Green gives a great performance, showcasing his potential as an action star as well as some strong comedic chops. Leigh Whannell's direction, as well as the film's cinematography, is superb, with some shots leaving my jaw on the floor. The action is a lot of fun, and the film has a very strong pace consistently. There are so many twists and turns that you won't quite see everything coming. I highly recommend checking this out, especially in a theater. Upgrade deserves to be a box office success.
