Fucking hell, this was so great. Hilarious and simultaneously devastating, Lady Bird balances the highs and lows of our characters, leading to a coming of age story unlike any I've seen before. Greta Gerwig's solo directorial debut is aces all around the board, particularly Saoirse Ronan, who carries this film beyond the heights it reaches (which is very high).
Some of the best movies I've seen are the ones that completely transport you into their world. Where you feel so connected to the characters that you could order coffee from them, go to their school theatre performance, or sit across from them in class every day. Lady Bird manages to do this in only 90 minutes, and I think my only issue was the fact it's run-time left me wanting so much more.
Lady Bird is one of few movies I've ever really related too in multiple areas and it's hard to not be entranced when it gets as emotional as it does. Stepped out of the theatre and was already trying to plan seeing it again so I'd say that pretty much sums up how much I loved it.
