Really reminded me of why I fell in love with the experience of going into a theater completely clueless as to what I’m about to see, a work with so many layers & subtleties that an additional viewing is almost required to grasp everything it contains. Completing this must have been some sort of distinct therapy exercise for Wells because it’s so revealing, so open & self-critical at times that it can be hard to believe Aftersun is her debut.
