Becca 👻’s review published on Letterboxd:
Every moment of Rye Lane is bursting with enthusiasm. It’s such a sweet love story because every moment feels special - the colours more vibrant, actions more dramatic and characters more delicate. This is such a unique film that presents everything in front of it as beautiful and never ending, perfectly harnessing what it means to fall in love. It’s simply about two people who finally find their relief, and it’s a joy to watch.
The only reason I don’t rate this higher is because I do think it’s one of those films that’s based on personal taste. I personally prefer romance films that are a little more bleak and less comedic, because they make me feel more. As much as I can acknowledge it’s very fresh stylistically, I did feel disconnected from it at times due to the tone. When the comedy works it works really well, but when it doesn’t it feels really awkward. It’s still very cute tho.
