I'm even more disappointed with all the non-sense in Midbummer after seeing Ari Aster's other critically acclaimed horror film.
Hereditary is a movie that makes you never want to take your eyes off the screen, while simultaneously making you so terrified that you just want to stop watching at one point. It's thrilling, unsettling, and meticulously crafted. The cinematography and camera work are outstanding. Acting-wise, Toni Collette steals the show, but everybody does a good job.
I was not very fond of the ending. It was the kind of thing I was hoping this movie would avoid doing (I just can't stand these kinds of metaphorical arthouse BS, I'm really sorry).
I shouldn't have watched this at night. Possibly one of the worst decisions I made all year.
