    My Blue Heaven

Based on the same true story as Goodfellas.

Steve Martin plays a gangster, Rick Moranis a federal agent. Martin is in the witness protection plan, but can't clean up his act and soon reverts to his old ways. Joan Cusack co-stars as an Assistant DA who wants to prosecute Martin, while falling in love with Moranis.

Hard to believe this is based on the same true story as Goodfellas.

I've always felt this was an underrated classic. Martin and Moranis…

I very much needed a pick-me-up after a craptastic evening, so I turned to one of my favorites. Baz Lurhman's directorial debut may feature a few too many close-ups to sell some of the humor, and the whole premise may be built on a trope, but there's no denying the energy, the fun, the colorful costumes, and yes, romantic sex appeal this film has.

I described it as an "Aussie Dirty Dancing" back in my video store days, and I stand by that here. The romance is sweet, the dancing gives me goosebumps, the music makes me happy.

    "Alter your mood" achievement unlocked.

Watching these in "chronological" order is a bit of a challenge, since this one comes directly after the end of six but before the mid credit scene. But that's the order in which we watched them.

I'd come to love Han over the course of these films, (nearly more than the leads, if I'm honest) and between that and the abysmal reviews this film seems to generate, I had a marked lack of excitement going into this one.

    And no,…

An oldie, but a goodie. Hard to believe it's over 30 years old, as the technical wizardry is just as impressive today as it was in the theatre.

    DC Showcase: Adam Strange

    ★★★½

Another in the DC Showcase animated shorts line, attached to Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. I confess to knowing next to nothing about Adam Strange, so that made this viewing both a thrilling little fifteen-minute ride... and a confusing one, as I would like to know more.

Near as I can figure, he's a tragic soul, "Quantum Leaping" his way through the Galaxy helping folks in need while he waits for the right opportunity to get back to set things…
