Get Out is probably one of the best debuts I’ve seen, and it’s especially remarkable that it came from a comedian who truthfully had no right to be as talented a writer/director as he is, so I was anticipating this one quite a bit. It’s also a film that’s frustratingly close to perfect. My gripes with Get Out, specifically the jump scares and color palette are thankfully improved upon here. I don’t think there was a single jump scare queue,…
Step aside, Roma.
Oscar-worthy performances from John C. Reilly and Kelly MacDonald carry the film far, but the cinematography and musical score are on point, as well. This will surely get a nod for “Best Original Song” at the Oscars this year.
The Coen Brothers have really outdone themselves after their last film “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” failed to please audiences. This is easily their biggest crowd-pleasing affair since The Big Lebowski.
Go pay to see it! It’s an epic time!
