I knew I needed to watch this one again. Idk if it was the dub or just a bad day, but the first time I watched it I didn't really get it. But after a second watching, I can't deny that it is a masterpiece.
It is the most breathtaking showcase of animation ever put to film. Just truly spectacular and shows some of the finest the medium can offer.
Not only are the visuals spectacular, but the story is wholly unique and extremely emotional. It wasn't a tearjerker for me, I guess because I never had any fear that they wouldn't end up meeting. And on top of that, the music was spectacular and beautiful, perfectly matching the visuals.
The only problem I had with this was some of the most powerful moments of the movie felt cut too abruptly by a really obnoxious and ear-piercing sound effect, which really killed the vibe at times. Besides that one thing, a pure masterpiece in my opinion.
