It's common saying that Rome wasn't built in a day, obviously it wasn't it, it took a lot of time to fit into place. But Rome could of easily toppled in a day.
So here's Blue Valentine. A film showing a romance building over the course of a couple of months on sturdy yet rushed foundations, and that same romance fall apart in just over a day.
See the link and connected the dots.
Here's a film that feels very very real with it's superb acting and script work. It's dark without becoming too heavy (to some this might displease, but the film isn't about the dark areas it steeps too) and charming without becoming lighthearted. It's perfectly balanced.
And while I'm not a shallow guy, naked Michelle Williams is definitely deserved of a mention.
