Foggy’s review published on Letterboxd:
Been a while since I’ve seen the first Scream so I can’t really compare the two too much, but I think I like this one a little more than it.
Whereas the meta moments of the first film really felt overbearing and slamming the point down it’s audience throats, this one seems to get the balance a little more even, despite a fairly laborious and explanatory third act confrontation. The first one certainly feels fresher, but this just works better as it’s own movie.
That said, I still feel like Ghostface is such a naff horror icon. Just a bloke in a cheap Halloween costume at the end of the day. I get in universe it works, but it just kinda sucks.
