Decided to start my oscars 2022 era with a nice little bit size action flic and guess what? this was a good movie!

  • Bo Burnham: Inside

    Bo Burnham: Inside

all the songs are bops and burnham is saying perhaps nothing that hasnt already been said, but still manages to put a lot of feelings into words (and disorienting cut sequences), which makes this into a very intimate character portait.

    She's Gotta Have It

    she’s simply gotta have it!!!

i was extremely impressed with the relevance and the progressive modern spirit in which this was made, as a debut film.

it is spike lee, so i shouldn’t be surprised

  • Guardians of the Galaxy

    Guardians of the Galaxy

second one is a better film, but this holds up imo!

  • The Man Who Sold His Skin

well obviously i was very relieved with a happy ending, but at the same time it took away from the realism a bit that it all worked out so dang well

the strongest scenes were those in which sam was being literally objectified, and those in which he (very rightly) lashed out or made fun of/created chaos in the system.

i feel like this is the film that ruben östlund wanted the square to be.

whew for a second there i thought hooking up with whiteboy mcblandface was gonna “save” her and make her get back to “normal”

  • The United States vs. Billie Holiday

The United States vs. Billie Holiday

in this year’s oscar nominations we see how the ongoing discussions surrounding #oscarssowhite and other hashtags calling out the academy on its racism finally seems to have had some sort of influence. every other film or so on that list of nominees seems to carry themes on racial injustice in america. and you won’t hear me complain!

these are super important stories and so far great movies that i’m glad to have watched, but oh boy is it intense and…

  • One Night in Miami...

    One Night in Miami...

This years oscars sure keeps the superb acting coming and coming and coming. gold star ⭐️

  • Onward

This film is holding its own and i don’t want to see any more bad reviews! is it the best pixar ever made? no. but in the last 10 years i would say it’s one of the best. brave? inside out? and a bunch of sequels? cmon.

is original and sweet, and the story, the magical realism, the adventure-plot as well as the maturing and stepping in to your own/finding your way as a teenager and becoming an adult... it’s…

  • The Life Ahead

    The Life Ahead

i read the book in french class a few years ago and it took a while to get used to the italian lol. but other than that i think this adaption is better than the book, at least it had more of an impact on me, i recommend it.

sophia loren is more beautiful and powerful than ever, so if you need a reason...

  • Emma.

ahh to walk guilded halls dressed in pastel and cream.

someone wrote once that the reason why historical love stories resonates so much is the repressed way they have to show affection. it’s a slow burn but oh it burns so good.

  • Judas and the Black Messiah

    Judas and the Black Messiah

let me tell you, it was pretty fitting watching this on netflix right after crip camp.

great acting, and obviously the story and subject matter are important and engaging and yes that’s it i have no more notes!

daniel kaluuya takes my breath away in certain scenes ❗️
