    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

    Charlie Kaufman Ranked

I don’t know what Kaufman was thinking about when he made this absolute masterpiece, but whatever it was, it was genus.

When you’ve watched multiple films from the same writer or director, you start seeing certain patterns. With Kaufman, aside from his surreal narratives and fantastically awkward comedy, perhaps his most notable pattern is found in his self-deprecating and socially-awkward main characters, always haunted by their past and present, with a sense of emptiness in their lives.…

    Amores Perros

Guillermo Arriaga’s narratives are always so powerful and melancholic, presenting a side of humanity that’s sometimes hard to recognize. The all work great by themselves but when put together, you get something else entirely, you get a raw look into what makes us human.

I’ll definitely give this another chance in the future and will continue watching the rest of Small Axe in the next few days.

    Film Club Ranked

Mother was a great pick for this week’s film, it’s also one of the movies I’m still missing from Joon-ho’s filmography, and now I’m more excited than ever for Parasite. Similarly to his other films, Bong criticizes several aspects of society, which act in some way as the antagonists of the film.

The relationship between the mother and the son was fascinating to watch, the love and conflicts between…
