FINALLY. I've been waiting for this movie for so damn LONG and this movie delivered in every way. I loved it so much, every aspect of this film is done so masterfully it's so hard to find flaws. But let me just say how important it is to see a movie that FEELS like an Old Hollywood classic romance that is LGBT oriented and subversive. Every muted glance and inquisitive observation of solitude hits you with such power I was overcome with emotions throughout the film. You can relate to these characters struggles and the guilty longing and loneliness it is so heartbreaking. The performances from everyone are immaculate but Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara deliver performances that are just wondrous to behold. The score is sweeping and lush. The direction is perfect and precise. The production design is detailed and rich with purpose. The cinematography is magical and beautiful. I mean I just fell in love with every part of this movie that worked together to create one of my favorite films of all time. I cannot overstate how much I loved this film. What a great year this has been for movies.
