Hour of the Wolf

Hour of the Wolf ★★★★

Part of Hooptober 5.0

Yeah, insomnia will do some shit to you.

What some people might see as a weak first half, I saw as the beginning stages of delving into sleep depravation. Things are technically still normal, but everything still has the unsettling feeling that things are on the edge.

When the break does hit, shit goes off the rails.

I get a lot of Carnival of Souls vibes from the family.

Love a good solid surrealism in my horror.

The beginning and end with Liv Ullmann talking to the audience gave the film a real lived-in feel, as if the whole thing was a real occurrence.

Somehow, my first Bergman, but a hell of a way to start.
