While the camera work isn't anything outstanding (movement, framings, angles, etc.), I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is genuinely one of the most stunningly beautiful looking movies I've ever seen. Phantom of the Paradise 1974
De Palma could make Raging Bull but Scorsese couldn't make Phantom of the Paradise.
Features almost a dozen of the greatest performances of all time. Brilliant music by Paul Williams. I had forgotten how utterly brilliantly that climax is edited: so frantic it becomes abstract, and so powerful. Completely sweeps you off your feet.
