Sam Mendes' 1917 was technically ambitious film that deserves a lot of the praise it has received. The gimmick of the film was it was shot like one long take that was a marvel to behold as landscapes changed and showed impressive war sequence, but it was a lot more than that. Mendes made this film a microcosm of war as a whole, showing different aspects of the war and the story itself was a mix of Apocalypse Now and Come and See as the characters go through hell when servicing their mission. It's a must-see.
