The Old Man & the Gun

A nice time had by all five of us strangers in attendance at the Los Feliz 3!

  • mid90s

A solid addition to the Lucas Hedges Troubled Son Cinematic Universe

Edit: debated spoiling this cute one-line review with nonsense, and have decided to tack on.... why wasn’tJustin Bieber cast in this movie. It feels so appropriate. Justin Bieber, in a career hardship, directed by Jonah Hill in a skateboard movie? Revival!!

He could’ve done a fun cameo like a guy who tries to return a broken skateboard to the skate shop (an homage to Jonah Hill’s own cameo in…

  • Bad Times at the El Royale

Bad Times at the El Royale

I think the one-hundred MacGuffins conceit of this movie is inherently flawed and I was very bored and didn’t like it. But I will acknowledge that Chris Hemsworth looked attractive without a shirt on.

  • A Star Is Born

    A Star Is Born

Good movie besides the fact that Bradley often drank and did drugs when he had been explicitly told not to!

  • Mandy

    Anger Things

I'm always hesitant to celebrate movies like this and 'Drive' and that substitute tone over substance with dreamlike versions of the movies their homaging because they remind me of the film students I met in college that might call something like this the best movie of the year and mockingly laugh laugh laugh when the trailer for "A Star is Born" comes on before it.

...But that doesn't mean I didn't have fun! Just means that I'm hesitant…

  • Assassination Nation

    Assassination Nation

Who greenlit Jared Leto’s The Joker’s Black Mirror spec script?

  • I Think We're Alone Now

    I Think We're Alone Now

Uh, I think I’m asleep now!!

  • Searching

The trailers made it look cold, but it was actually quite...sweet! Sweet, yes; I suppose I may say —this is one “cookie” (sweet) I will not be deleting from my “search” history!

  • A Simple Favor

    A Simple Favor

Ah, the broad comedy thriller! The first of its kind, so you might not know what to expect... imagine if an improv team got commissioned by The CW to film their murder mystery one-act. It’s like that!

  • Barry Lyndon

    Barry Lyndon

The Jerk (Dir. Carl Reiner, 1777)
Or: Been avoiding this movie for a decade because it had boring candle screenshots on IMDB and my friends in 9th grade told me it was slow, after we watched A Clockwork Orange at a sleepover. But nobody in my life ever took the time to tell  me it’s hilarious. The hell? Why didn’t anybody tell me that. This shit was unfucking believable. Praise the Gods that I waited this long that I got to go see it all big at The Egyptian with a bunch of dorks and make me not hate LA for 5 hours. Wow!

  • Crazy Rich Asians

    Crazy Rich Asians

Where’s the Com in this Rom!

  • The Post

    The Post

I'll say it: 'The Post' is one of the best superhero movies of this decade!
