  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

    How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

As far as I can tell, a nice tale about the merits of Christmas told from the thorny perspective of the mean, green, Grinch!

Watched on American Airlines and Lily Singh kept interrupting every 5 or so to wish me a happy holidays from her and NBC-Universal.

    So fun, so promising...

  • Dolemite Is My Name

    Dolemite Is My Name

Watched with parents again. Mother didn’t like the cursing. Father liked the cursing. I thought Eddie Murphy did a great job and that it is a nice story!

  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas

    How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Hard not to compare it to the very good book and cartoon it is based on, but if you can manage not to, it is very good! Jim Carrey is doing absolute work. Why am I logging this movie I’m in the bathroom and a 16 person Christmas dinner is actually happening right outside this toilet door. Merry Christmas!

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

They whiffed it so bad I couldn’t even possibly count the ways. Gave me the same feeling I get when I drink too much apple juice.

  • The Empire Strikes Back

This is unequivocally the very good one that convinces me into thinking all the other ones have a similar magic.

    1<2<3<4<5>6>7>8>9?

More interesting, though, is after watching this til 3 AM last night, I had a dream that the first twenty minutes of episode 9 was about a bunch of Nickelodeon cartoons living in on “Planet 9/11”. I wrote an impassioned Letterboxd review saying “we don’t want cartoons, we want Star Wars.” You all liked it; thank you!

  • Uncut Gems

    Uncut Gems

Maximum audacity! Very exciting something this resolutely specific to the directors taste and vision is being celebrated. Almost every casting choice is, for anyone else but these two brothers, a beautiful contrarian risk: Adam Sandler, Kevin Garnett, Idina Mendel, The Weeknd. You’ve just got to give it up for this movie! Take me back.
