While I know that many consider this to be among his weakest films and the version I watched had subtitles that at most times were nonsensical, this was still incredible.
Everything about this - the lighting, the music cues, the desire for unrequited love and appreciation underscoring the violent lifestyle of the characters. All of it hit the mark. Hopefully, the remaster by Criterion will end up on the channel and I can watch it in a little higher quality.
If this is Wong at his worst I can't imagine what his best is.
