George Clark’s review published on Letterboxd:
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is one of the finest action sequels ever made. It's a world trotting, bombastic action extravaganza thats fast paced, brilliantly choreographed fight sequences and endearing characters, both antagonist and protagonist, are some of the best there has ever been.
“If you want peace, prepare for war”
By picking up straight after Chapter 2, Parabellum throws you straight into the action, leaving a body count that easily rivals anything before while still giving us some truly brilliant character moments, continuing this already epic story perfectly. Chad Stahelski once again proves why he's the perfect director for the franchise with the action still being top class and, by now, it's clear Reeves is one of the greatest action stars there has ever been, he's irreplaceable in the role. He makes John Wick as good as it is, excelling in this genre because he's willing to push his body to the limit, showcasing stunts that make your eyes water, while also having the perfect demeanour for the role, carrying himself with great effect with his monotone voice excelling the performance all the more.
“Fourteen million dollar bounty on his head, and every interested party in this city wants a piece of it. I say the odds are about even.”
John Wick is a franchise like no other. Few have been able to keep such a consistent level of excellence while still upping the ante with every instalment. The action packed start and final hour is awe-inspiring with the brutality stepping up a notch as soon as they enter The Continental with it culminating in a slick sparring session between Reeves and Dacascos that's truly magnificent.
Every side character, whether it be the masterful performance by Halle Berry or the great lan McShane is top class but no one can beat the cool, calm persona of Lance Reddick.
Watching him walk into the gun room and grab a shotgun is one of the coolest scenes in history with the carnage that follows being a feast for the eyes (RIP to one of the most underrated actors there has ever been.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is one of the greatest action sequels there has ever been, the characters, story and action sequences are masterful. I can't wait for Chapter 4 tomorrow!
