My heart... Ugh.
I need to go outside and breathe for a little bit.
Insert 3 Hour Time Lapse
Just got done talking to my ex-girlfriend. She's such a beautiful soul and woman. A luminescent creature. Every time I talk to her I leave encouraged.. Our situation was sadly all too similar to the characters of 2046. If we were born at a different time, if the circumstances of life would have gone differently, if we would have met earlier or later......
That is the word. And if you're not too careful, If can become your World.
I think that this is exactly what the world of 2046 is trying to describe. 2046 is the train of thought we all follow as we reminisce upon those who we loved so deeply - those who we still hold dearly today. We ride that train and contemplate the if's of the relationship. If I would have said .... , if I would have done ..... etc. Every scenario with a different happy ending... That thinking can become so poisonous upon our lives. 2046, the world of if's, is a dangerous place because, once you accept that thinking, you can hardly escape it.
I don't know how to escape it myself, but I love that I have 2046 with me to share the load. Films aren't the only means of coping in this world, but I treasure the ones that teach me about myself and teach me to love the world deeper. 2046 is about lost love, but, in the end, it's also about the need to accept that our lost love could not have been. Once we do that, I believe we can fall in love with this world again.
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
