Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Hunt for the Wilderpeople ★★★★½

One of those infinitely rewatchable comfort movies for me. Far and away Taika’s masterpiece; a magically weird blend of humor, drama, and heart. It’s not often you find a film that’s this much of an emotional and tonal rollercoaster but that never feels cheap or manipulative with its emotional beats. Sam Neill is doing career-best work as the cantankerous Hec, and Julian Dennison and Rachel House are also delightful.
