George Hanna-Wilson’s review published on Letterboxd:
My love for the new season of Twin Peaks inspired me to revisit this gem. Like a majority of David Lynch's work, Blue Velvet explores the seedy underbelly of a seemingly innocent community and the light versus dark sides of humanity. Lynch has a knack for telling familiar types of stories in a completely original, artful, and interesting way incorporating a unique blend of dark humor and dreamy surrealism. If I were to recommend a single David Lynch movie to someone new to his movies it would most certainly be this one. Blue Velvet is a perfect introduction to Lynch's style as it's not too tough to comprehend upon a single viewing compared to some of his more abstract (but equally awesome) later work. I should also mention that Dennis Hopper plays one of greatest psychopaths in cinema history.
