    Better than I remember but indeed one of the weaker MCU entries. The beginning and end are pretty good but the film hits an iceberg when it focuses on SHIELD and Tony's heart shrapnel. Science is cool but to watch a man discover a new fictional mineral for fifteen minutes isn't all that entertaining and it puts an unnecessary pause on the movie. I also thought Mickey Rourke's villain could've been more involved in the narrative. He was pretty awesome but wasn't given that much to do. Still, this was a lot better than the first Thor.

    Bloodshot is a reasonable action flick that's lukewarmly directed but also boasts the enigmatic, slyly charismatic Vin Diesel in the kind of role he effortlessly brings his trademark hyper-masculine magnetism to.     Mortal Kombat is over the top, corny, and dumb but it's also pretty fun. I guess I'm one of those PWSA apologists. This isn't one of his better films but I have to admit I enjoy it. It's quite visually creative and it's got a nice buoyant tone to it. There's a playful aesthetic imagination and innocuousness to a lot of PWSA's movies and that'll go a long way with me. The nostalgia factor is also quite nice. I guess I miss the nineties.

    52 Pick-Up is a well constructed thriller that's expertly directed by John Frankenheimer with a big problem.     It's been a long time since I've seen this one and I still kind of like it but it doesn't hold up as well as I remember. The script just isn't as interesting or well put together as the way Joe Dante directed it; who wrangled up a bunch of stellar comedic actors and built one of the more interesting and convincing Hollywood movie sets I can think of. That being said, I have to agree with Ebert, who called this one "just another Shaggy Dog story." I prefer Gremlins, Small Soldiers, and if I recall correctly, The Hole when regarding Joe Dante's films depicting Suburbia.

    It's a movie with both undeniable greatness and badness in it, so I'm having a hard time finding the words for this one. For every nigh-unwatchable scene that's incredibly offensive and stereotypical, there is another all-time great action sequence that's so well done you'd think that a bunch of kidnapped scientists were forced to engineer it at gunpoint. I guess you can call it Spielberg's Transformers 2.

    Also, this movie should've been rated R. It's probably one of the most disgusting and mean-spirited films ever to be made in Hollywood. I see why it jump-started the creation of the PG-13 rating.
