Tori’s review published on Letterboxd:
I didn't want to watch this for the obvious reasons of the racism toward indigenous people/it's main character, the blatant white washing of Roberto. and how generally shitty that the director was when confronted about all of these very legitimate concerns. However, it was picked for family movie night, so where we are.
It's really goddamn unfortunate, honestly. The queer girls at the center of this, the main character BEING indigenous, the horror nature of it, all of that should've added up to something excellent. Or at least fun! But it's so bogged down by all this hateful shit both in the film and around it that it's not that. The good aspects of it deserved better than racism and colorism.
