  • Island of Terror

    Island of Terror

    ★★½

Cushing and the little blobby creatures are the best parts of this and basically make it worth watching, but the leading man going to, I think, kill the leading lady to spare her (???) before stopping at the last second was like...... maybe ask first damn.

tw/cw: Nothing really aside from epilepsy warning at the very end, and sexism type stuff

  • Vamp

    Vamp

    ★★½

Grace Jones deserved more time/some actually dialogue, but I guess her vibe was pretty cool still all the same. It's kind of a hot mess but in a fun way mostly, with some bonkers great green and pink lighting. It really could've ended at the first tease though.

    tw/cw: blood
    nudity

  • Hand of Death

    Hand of Death

    ★★½

This film had it's protag accidentally kill the one PoC in it by accident but then have the knee jerk reaction of setting the place on fire and running, and then a special effects department that went with blackface to make him "scary" so uh.... woof.

tw/cw: N/A aside from the blackface except maybe some general sexism

  • Skylines

    Skylines

    ★★½

I'm here for Trent and Trent ONLY.

I'll be real and say I was not paying attention enough to fully retain the plot but aliens cool lighting good. Lindsey Morgan's arms..... also good.

    tw/cw: epilepsy warning
    blood/gore

  • Critters 2

    Critters 2

    ★★½

This kept coming up as a great Easter horror film, and people were in fact right. I had a fun time, though the ending was a bit long and just ???????.

    tw/cw: animal death (dog)
    blood/gore
    nudity

  • The House of Clocks

    The House of Clocks

    ★★½

I watched this in pretty poor quality which may have affected my enjoyment some since I didn't get to see the gory bits in real detail, but there being nobody at all to like made it a bit rough to invest in, and having the characters tell the story of what happened in the film you're currently watching generally is never a good move.

    tw/cw: animal harm (cat)
    blood/gore

  • Blood Machines

    Blood Machines

    ★★½

I felt like the people behind this thought they were making something really heady and high concept but in execution the most interesting thing about it is the visuals and music. Maybe I'm being overly harsh but it just didn't do anything for me and it seemed utterly pointless to have a bunch of nude women being thrown around.

    tw/cw: epilepsy warning
    sexual assault
    nudity

  • Quicksilver Highway

    Quicksilver Highway

    ★★½

The sheer goofiness is off the scale with both of these, and the cast is wild. It kept me company while I dealt with an all day killer migraine, so it was good for that.

    tw/cw: blood/gore

  • Riding the Bullet

    Riding the Bullet

    ★★½

My enjoyment of this film came purely with hot greaser David Arquette's appearance, so I can't speak to anyone else's potential mileage out of it.

    tw/cw: suicide
    blood/gore

  • Devil's Gate

    Devil's Gate

    ★★½

I was really on board with this for the most part, the side stepping it did to avoid being what you expected it to be and the creature design was great. If it just wouldn't have weirdly leaned into refusing to have anyone refer to indigenous people even by 'native americans' and then try to act like it was so clever to say that now HUMANS are the indigenous people being wiped out was just so unnecessary lmao yeesh.

    tw/cw: blood/gore
    suicide
    animal death (dog)
    racism

  • Supernova

    Supernova

    ★★½

Why did space make everyone so HORNY........

    tw/cw: nudity
    body horror/blood/gore

  • Bigfoot Family

    Bigfoot Family

    ★★½

I will say I never saw the first one, but they gave a vague synopsis in the beginning that I'm sure covers it pretty much. I really don't get why being Bigfoot means you have super speed and even the healing is a little dubious in sense, but it's a fine enough pro-environment kids film with one joke that absolutely got me. Also the animation is surprisingly nice, all things considered.

    tw/cw: N/A
