  • Jujutsu Kaisen

    Jujutsu Kaisen

Was anyone going to tell me anime is on here or was I going to have to find out myself by a mutual making a list

Anyway watch JJK I love it more than anything

    tw/cw: (So far)
    body horror/blood/gore/eye scream
Sexual assault very briefly in the first ep where a girl is groped by a cursed spirit

  • Phantom of the Paradise

    Phantom of the Paradise

God it was so nice to see this again, but I desperately need a really nice copy of it. The music in this is so killer, and Jessica Harper has the most gorgeous voice.

    tw/cw: homophobic slurs

  • The Thing

    The Thing

Not many horror films ever scared me as someone who grew up watching them from likely too young an age, but this was one of the ones that did. It's one of I think two films that I actively remember starting and then being too freaked out to finish probably the first time I tried watching it when I was a kid, and it was because of the dogs in the beginning. I loved dogs too much, and it just…

  • The Haunting of Bly Manor

    The Haunting of Bly Manor

Just fuck me up Mr. Flanagan.

tw/cw: I'll probably miss stuff but
    blood/gore/body horror
    suicide/self harm

  • The Mortuary Collection

    The Mortuary Collection

It is such a delight as an anthology horror fan who rarely finds ones that are solidly good all the way through to find another one that I enjoyed nearly as much as Trick 'r Treat, which is one of my favorite films.

Everything about this just worked so well, the feeling and aesthetic being so bright and colorful and fun to the point of making me think of the likes of Goosebumps, but taking it to that more adult…

(Truly don't want to say much about this one because it's better to just experience it, but shout out to having a Black man be the sole survivor! Shouldn't be so rare, but it sure is still.)

    tw/cw: epilepsy warning
    self harm
    body horror/blood/gore
    animal harm/death
    eye scream

  • Basic Witch

    Basic Witch

Wow I loved this one so much, the way it conveys everything is spot on and really healthy and lord if only it were possible to do this.

Also Lily's hair is so pretty that's just the gay talking but still!

tw/cw: rape is talked about somewhat in the name of discussing consent

  • Selma

Everyone in this film just fuckin killed it, from Ava DuVernay as the director, to every actor with roles big and small. It's heartbreaking but necessary to see how what happened then still echoes into now, and the imagery is strikingly resonant. I don't think I'll ever shake the shock of the scene with the four church girls, as it should be.

tw/cw: racism obvs is a common theme so there's slurs, confederate flags, and violence
    child death

  • Paranoia Agent

Just incredibly well done, and fascinating to watch.

tw/cw: lord there's so much but this is what I can remember
suicide heavily featured in one episode
incest/pedophilia focused on in one ep
lots of mental illness related stuff in terms of people struggling with it, etc
    children being harmed/child death
    nudity some I think?

  • Blue My Mind

    Blue My Mind

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

This film is beautiful and heartbreaking and I adored it so deeply. I loved the change in Gianna and how much she wound up truly and deeply caring about Mia, and vice versa. Seeing Mia struggle through so much change and anger and distress alone was shattering, but the fact she wound up having someone there for her in the end was lovely (and gay thank god). Just gorgeous.

    tw/cw: body horror
    self harm
    lots of drugs
    lots of water stuff

  • The Perfection

    The Perfection

Logan Browning PLEASE be my girlfriend she's so fucking gorgeous and incredible as an actor. Allison Williams is excellent too.

This never went where I expected it to, and it felt like a completely different film from beginning to end but not in a badly done way, just in how fucking wild it was. I loved it.

tw/cw: rape is a theme heavily discussed but never shown
self harm is also heavily present but is shown
    grody bugs under the skin

  • Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

There is so much to say about this film, but if I got started I would probably not stop. If you're a woman, queer, or just want to finally have a superhero movie that doesn't feel like the same formula as every other one, see it. Enjoy it, because everyone in it is absolutely enjoying the hell out of themselves and you can feel it.

    tw/cw: abuse is discussed
uuuuhhhh unsanitary I guess maybe for poop jokes lmao
