    ★★★★★

This was so goddamn funny, but also made me cry with 'Mob being supported by all his friends' moments. It was nice to look back over S1 now and see how far everyone's come. Sometimes with a doofy Reigen head slapped on them.

    tw/cw: epilepsy warning

Mob Psycho 100 II: The First Spirits and Such Company Trip - A Journey that Mends the Heart and Heals the Soul

The whole of this series was so fucking good it made me re-assess anime series I watched previously that I thought were good and realize nothing compares to this one.

This OVA was a really sweet and yet so stressful they really did Reigen like that.........

    tw/cw: epilepsy warning maybe?

  • If Beale Street Could Talk

    If Beale Street Could Talk

    ★★★★★

This film very slowly and surely wrenches your heart and twists it around in your chest, but with such important purpose. Every actor in it is stellar in even the smallest of roles, but KiKi Layne and Stephan James are both so incredible. Their love felt so real and genuine and warm. It's what made the heartache so strong, along with the knowledge that this same thing happens constantly. The way Barry Jenkins balances the harsh truth with the strength…

Took me far too long to see this, but I'm so happy I finally did. It both gave so much heartache, but catharsis too. Exquisite.

    tw/cw: child abuse
    homophobic slurs

  • When They See Us

    When They See Us

    ★★★★★

Just an absolutely incredible, emotionally devastating, and monumentally important series. It is deeply, distressingly hard to watch because it should be. The wrongs done to these boys needs to be known, and felt, and heard. Everyone in this is excellent, but Jharrel Jerome is just exquisite.

tw/cw: racism and violence against Black boys/men
rape is discussed in detail though not ever shown
    blood
    child abuse
    transphobia

There's not much for my to say that hasn't already been said aside from echoing the call to watch this ASAP if you haven't already. I wish I had much sooner, it's deeply and devastatingly important.

tw/cw: There are clips and pictures of violence towards Black people but done with purpose

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Gorgeous animations that's so lively and fun with an excellent style on top, and the story! I love that they took a close look at child abuse that may not be being beaten but is just as damaging and harmful, and allowed the kids to want! to be rid of their parents! And aren't made to feel like they're bad or wrong for that because their parents damn well deserved that much.

And a fat WoC who's weight is never…

Why does Lucky McKee get me so much and give me EXACTLY what I wanted even before I knew I did. I fucking love these bug loving lesbians.

    tw/cw: body horror/eye scream
