Effective jump scares, creepy imagery and a hearty feeling of dread permeate the story topped with fleshed out performances from Dave Davis and Lynn Cohen.
Only slighted by the well worn trope of using a haunting/spiritual malevolence for anguish over personal trauma/loss. I mean, I get it, and it works more effectively in The Vigil than most. But still, kind of a drag.
Can't wait to see what Keith Thomas has got in store for that Firestarter remake though...
