    Last Night in Soho

    ★★★★½

Last Night in Soho was a movie I was anticipating for at least a year now, and I can thankfully say it was worth the hype and expectations. It's a hypnotic mixture of old Giallo, and De Palma era ideas, while also paving its way with more modern sensibilities and ideas. Its a good mixture, and with just a couple of missteps, it was overall one of the strongest films of the year.

From most all of the technical elements…

    ★★★★

Cruella was something that I was really excited about with the trailers, and come to figure out my faith in the film was well-intended. It was an excellent movie and easily the best of the Disney live-action movies. It had a great style, and it really felt like it had a sense of energy and purpose.

The movie is filled with superb visuals, excellent acting, and a great and fun take on a story many of us already love. This…

    ★★

While far from terrible, this doesn't do a whole lot that really stands out. This feels like your typical guy with some filmmaking talent gets some friends together and a camcorder and decides to record an SOV film type feel. I know that sounds specific, but it was way more common than some may think.

This definitely has its inspirations out there, but for the most part everything works into a halfway decent package, its just that none of it…

Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge

    ★★★

Definitely a strange movie, but it honestly works for the most part into a decent enough horror flick. The sets and acting were serviceable, and the story was just enough of a mashup of inspirations that it actually makes for a halfway decent movie.

There are a few solid kills here, and the overall vibe works. I totally love a good mall setting to, and this one does a good job with it. It's no chopping mall by any means, but this is definitely worth checking out if it sounds interesting to you.

For those that know me, they know that Child’s Play holds one of the most special places in my heart. In many ways my terror towards the doll Chucky got me into horror, and facing my fears of dolls in general. The entire franchise I have watched many times over, and I still do fairly often when I am wanting some nice entertaining killer doll movies. I was still excited though about the idea of this movie. I will not…

I will certainly have to second to Steven Francis in saying that the movie is certainly hard to rate. There are a lot of different reasons for that which I will get into, but my overall thoughts about the movie is that I liked it. I didn't love it in all honesty, but I had a good time and will likely be picking this one up when it comes out.

Firstly the movie's technical elements are very strong. The cinematography…
