Movies that at one point in my life or another we’re in my top four (at which time I was watching them every day.. as one does.) They still hold a special place in my heart..

  • The Great Gatsby

    The Great Gatsby

First saw this in theaters when it came out for a friend’s birthday. We dressed up in fancy dresses and eden did each other’s makeup. I was so happy because a dress Daisy wears in the beginning was super similar to the one I was wearing.
Having read the book beforehand to prepare to see the movie, this is where my F. Scott Fitzgerald special interest began, and is still going strong today.

  • Dead Poets Society

    Dead Poets Society

Ah, the movie that kickstarted my dark academia phase. Rightfully so, of course. I still relate to Todd more than any other character, and unfortunately am still in love with every Robert Sean Leonard character.

  • Wilde

  • The Talented Mr. Ripley

    The Talented Mr. Ripley

This one was a big comfort to me when I was in the depths of my internalized homophobia. I thought it was neat Tom Ripley was gay and evil, because I thought I was gay and evil too. This movie still holds up though.

  • Gattaca

My honors biology teacher my freshman year had us watch this and write an essay. At that point, Ethan Hawke and Jude Law were some of my favorite actors already, so i can’t believe I hadn’t seen this before then. Gay rights!

    Free Willy

I watched this movie so often as a kid i completely wore the tape down multiple times. Every single day from when i was a baby until I was around seven, I would watch this. And yet the autism diagnosis came as a shock 🙄
