I wasn't really familiar with the text of Uncle Vanya, but I think that worked in my favor. I'd be unsure sometimes if what they were saying was the character or the character playing a character. It accentuated how blurry the lines can get between art and artist. And also the themes about forgiveness and catharsis were handled so beautifully. A really beautiful film.
