better plotting, worldbuilding, pacing, and dialogue than the Batman. Mr. Mime is much scarier than the Riddler ever could be
Feels both like a step forward and backward for Kelly as a director.
The polar opposite of something like Mandy in that instead of pure emotion the amount of detail here is staggering and headache inducing. Totally different than what I was expecting.
Not sure how I feel about this at all, but despite that the ratings for this baffle me. Sure there’s some dumb shit but like, it’s really ambitious and unique, which is better than at least 75% of what’s out today.
Respect to Kelly for going for it, even if he didn’t hit all marks
I remember liking this when I saw it before, but not this much. This is an absolute masterpiece. I adore boogie nights, but I think this will be passed down as Paul Thomas Anderson's magnum opus. Everything from Daniel Day-Lewis' performance to the beautiful cinematography and haunting score is absolutely spot-on. I can't think of any flaws with it right now. The ending gave me goosebumps as I was watching.
