Boogie Nights 1997
Will Ferrell has been in some pretty funny movies with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell has been in some pretty funny movies with John C. Reilly but the real comic gold came when Mark Wahlberg and John C. Reilly were together. We need that magic again. Happy New Year!
Stop Making Sense 1984
Technically speaking, this is the most quotable movie of all time.
The Squid and the Whale 2005
I still can’t believe I got away with showing this to a whole class. That was two days before my 21st birthday. I look back on my last birthday week as being one of if the not the best birthday weeks of my life so far and that was one of the best parts of it.
Horse Feathers 1932
How fuckin’ funny would it be if there was a legacy sequel to this? Like it takes place in 2023 and it’s about a new generation of students at Huxley College. There would be a scene where Jenna Ortega’s character says “There was once a legendary President at this college named Professor Wagstaff and there was this legendary football game…” Rachel Sonnett would play Professor Wagstaff’s great great granddaughter.
The Ultimate Gift 2006
Teacher: What did you guys think of the movie?
Kid: I thought it was one of the better movies I've seen in my entire life. Most movies you watch and then forget about it but this will stick with me forever.
Me (in my head): Aren't you precious?
American Psycho 2000
Now I haven’t seen Chris Stuckmann’s review of this movie yet but I’m willing to bet that at some point in his review he says “At one point, Patrick Bateman plays the song “In Too Deep” by Genesis. You might be thinking that it’s just a random song they chose to play but if you think about it: Patrick Bateman is IN TOO DEEP to his killings.”
