What Inside Out wishes it was. I had to keep from crying bc I didn’t want the attention from my family, I hate the way people respond to crying.
Anyway, this is maybe the most ambitious animated film (narratively speaking) I’ve seen in.....idk, ever? I don’t know. I genuinely don’t know how this movie got made, and I think critically people will be like “yeah...okay, Inside Out again.” because that movie has pretty colors and amy poehler and this doesn’t. It felt a little trite at times at the expense of being truly transcendent, but I think that’s because Pete Doctor is working for Pixar and sadly there’s a ceiling that places on this film. In its best moments though, it’s genuinely otherworldly. It’s the most mature Pixar film because it demands the most from its audience. Idk I could go on and on about this. I feel like a wrung dish towel. Completely exceeded my expectations.
Maybe the best Pixar movie. Incredible.
