Penny’s review published on Letterboxd:
Is never afraid to be a comic book movie. There is a close-up of a woman’s screaming mouth done with complete sincerity. And “sincere” is the key word here. There is no comedy undermining emotion. There is no insufferable quipping. There is no Benedict Cumberbatch. This movie wears its heart on its sleeve. It never pulls punches (in two ways, since the action is so gloriously weighty). It has never been topped.
Raimi throws in a horror scene that is even more straight-faced than The Evil Dead. God.
