everyone is rightly like “wow, this movie slides poignantly from being a Gary movie to being an Alana movie” but the thing is even after that shift starts you can watch it as a Gary movie and that’s still a better movie than like 99% of other stuff.
also not only does she get more of the the spotlight in the back half but it’s an hour or so of Alana reacting to Gary then that dynamic also flips and he’s reacting to her and none of this is ever didactic because the whole time they’re just like pranking Bradley Cooper and shit it’s incredible.
