The Goldfinch

The Goldfinch

idk where to start with this. the way the story has decided to be assembled is frustrating and the execution is more or less the same. i miss tartt’s story, this one is dampened and stepped on with just a few spots of text intelligible. elgort and his contemporaries seem the most committed whereas fegley’s  is missing support and can often come off as the most offensive to it’s derived material. the way characters treat art and antiques is also hilariously vapid. the very least, deakin’s work is commendable to providing scope and exploring some great visual interpretations of the settings. i’ll leave it at that.
