I am the new faith
Jury is still out on what this film is about. Gun violence? Pop music? Alcoholism? The devil? Terrorism? Idk but Natalie Portman is one of the realest talents alive. Also the music slaps, srry.
But really, I love how heavy handed and overdrawn this movie is. It’s an uncomfortable mix of joy, hilarity, and all-out real life horror. It’s simultaneously surreal, ridiculous and realistic. It’s all over the map tonally...and I can’t quite decide if it’s life-affirming or deeply, horribly hopeless. I dig the disorientation.
